Enterprise Report Scheduler 4.2 Released!!
Following the release of ERS 4.1 last December we have recently released ERS 4.2. This new version contains a number of new features and now runs as a
64 bit application enabling it to more efficiently use the memory of your PC or server whether it is processing larger deliverables or running larger queries on your database. For a full list of what's new, consult our
New Features page.
New Triggered Action Types
A major new feature included in ERS 4.2 is the addition of an action type to ERS Triggers called
Create a Task. This allows users to create a required task for a user to perform when a trend occurs in data collection. Since triggers in ERS are monitoring part files on a timer (and not live with data collection), this allows an inbox-style approach to required tasks that are necessary when data goes out of control or specification and is particularly powerful when paired with QC-CALC Real-Time as a Service. As of release, task types include requesting an
assignable or corrective action, adding a
note, and simply
acknowledging a situation. To use a real world example, a trigger can be set up in ERS to watch a set of part files for new data. As parts are inspected and data arrives the trigger checks for some set of desired trends such as out of control points. If any of the (un)desired trends are found, a task can be sent to a user and/or group of users to assign a cause, enter a corrective action, etc. The tasks are delivered via QC-Mobile allowing the user(s) to complete them from the web browser interface without the need to install software.
Automatic Grouping Saves Time
An additional new feature is the “Group across all variations” record filtering which allows ERS to automatically adapt to the number of different variations a filter needs to address. For instance, rather than specifying an exact machine or line number for the filter, “group across all variations” can now be chosen. When run, the filter will automatically find all variations of machine or line numbers and group the data accordingly. This means the addition of a new machine or operator does not require creating or updating a filter. This feature is particularly powerful when used in conjunction with the Dynamic Named part file lists feature. These two features can automatically create groups of data from a given location and category and dynamically keep the grouping filters up to date. This is truly a “Set It and Forget It” capability.
