Introduction

Customers often ask us how they can test changes to their inspection routines without mixing their test data with their production data. The answer to this is to run QC-CALC Real-Time in TryOut Mode.

TryOut Mode is a simple menu option that allows you to create a separate part file that contains junk or test data. When in TryOut Mode, the same part files are generated as normal, but with "_TryOut" appended to the name. Therefore, "widget12.qcc" (or .qcq) becomes "widget12_TryOut.qcc" (or .qcq) when TryOut Mode is on. All functionality within QC-CALC is the same, but the data is automatically separated simply because the filename is different.

When you need to test parts, flip on TryOut Mode. When you're ready to run production parts, simply flip back to normal mode and measure parts.

Steps

  1. In QC-CALC Real-Time, choose Tools > TryOut Mode to turn on TryOut Mode. A red bar will appear at the top of the real-time plots screen, reminding you that you are looking at test data.
  2. Choose Tools > TryOut Mode a second time to return to normal mode.
