PREREQUISITES
You will need QC-CALC Real-Time version 3.0.230 or higher.
INTRODUCTION
Many customers want to export all of their data automatically to Excel (for example) after each part is received, but they do not want to take the time to setup the specific Excel file name that each QCC file should use. The Custom File Name option enables you to setup one general export configuration and change the name of the Excel file based on the QCC file name, Factor values, or the current Date and Time.
Here's what you have to do to automate the name change for all of your QC-CALC files. In this example, we assume the export is done every time a part is inspected. You can change the results as needed for your situation.
STEPS
- Select menus Export - Export Data.
- Select "Excel 97/2000/2002/2007" the Export Type.
- Give the file any name (it won't be used but it is required).
- Click the Advanced button to expand the window.
- Choose the Use Custom File Name option and click the Configure button.
- In the Custom File Name Editor choose "PN - Name of Part" from the list.
- Click the Add button.
- Additional items can be used in combination with the Part Name by choosing items from the list and clicking Add again. Add any delimiters you want by typing in the box below the list.
- Click OK on the Custom File Name Editor and the Automatic Exporting Setup screens to conclude the setup.
- Verify the Export - Use Same Export Settings for All Parts menu is checked.
When the export occurs, the Excel file name will match the name of the QCC file containing that data.
CONCLUSION
You can easily and dynamically change the export file name based on the QCC file, any Factor values from within the file, or the current Date and Time.
